Fighter Movie, featuring the dynamic duo Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, had a somewhat subdued start on its opening day. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh reported the film’s initial earnings at ₹24 crore at the domestic box office, primarily driven by post-5 pm shows. While the Day 1 collection can be termed as average, the silver lining is the “excellent” audience feedback, suggesting a potential surge in numbers on Fighter’s second day – today.

Taran Adarsh remarked, “After an ordinary/average start in morning and noon shows, Fighter movie picked up pace post 5 pm onwards on Day 1 (working day before the big holiday)… Although the biggie should’ve aimed for a higher opening day figure, the positive audience response is encouraging and should translate into significant numbers today (Day 2; Republic Day holiday).”

“Fighter performed well in major centers on Day 1, but its business in mass circuits is not fully reflective of the film’s merits… Nevertheless, the mass appeal is expected to kick in today, and if the momentum continues through Sat and Sun, a healthy extended weekend total could be in store,” Taran Adarsh added, disclosing the film’s domestic box office total, which stands just above ₹24 crore.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, Fighter features Hrithik and Deepika alongside Anil Kapoor as air force officers, forming an elite team responding to a cross-border threat. The ensemble cast includes Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, Rishabh Sawhney, and Sanjeeda Sheikh.

Offering his take on Fighter, film critic Saibal Chatterjee expressed his dissatisfaction, stating, “For the audience, unless you’re a Hrithik Roshan fan or a devoted follower of Bollywood’s war film genre, the challenge lies in warding off the overwhelming ennui that quickly sets in and drags the film down. However, if Hrithik’s presence is motivation enough, Fighter might meet expectations. But that’s about it.”

Chatterjee did commend the cast, noting, “Hrithik Roshan does his best to elevate the film. Deepika Padukone is robust and entirely comfortable in a predominantly male-centric world. Anil Kapoor’s restraint adds a touch of seriousness to the film. However, Fighter could have benefited from a more formidable villain.”

Both Hrithik and Deepika have previously delivered high-budget, action-packed hits with Siddharth Anand – Hrithik in Bang Bang and War, and Deepika in last year’s Pathaan. Fighter marks the first collaboration between the two actors in a film.
